You may have gathered that I write software. Actually, I've been writing software for over 30 years now, starting with COBOL, quickly ditching that in favour of IBM Assembler and progressing, over the decades, to where I am now, sitting in front of a PC all day writing code primarily in VB6.
No one is interested in my early years of IBM assembler under VM and MVS and no one really cares that I once write a pre-fetch application in Assembler that ran each night to pre-fetch documents off an optical storage system in order to improve the performance of the CICS system the following day. So, I'm sticking to the here and now.
The Things I've Written page is a blatant plug for me and for the software I've written both for commercial organisations and for my current employer. It's of general interest only and seeks to give you a flavour of my experience.
The Tools I Use page is my way of giving a plug to those people out there in the same boat as me, publishing software. You'll find a mixture of free stuff, share-ware and full commercial products. You won't find me slagging off anyone's products as I don't believe in doing that. I have a lot of software and use some of it on a very regular basis. Other tools I use rarely but they're a God send when I need them. So I figure this is my opportunity to plug the stuff I like.
I do, from time to time, offer people source code and applications though the web site and the downloads page lists what I've uploaded. All of this stuff is written by me and comes with no warranty at all. There are some apps that have been compiled because they use commercial libraries, but they come with source anyway in case you want to amend them.
