School Mentor
School Mentor is a review package,designed to help school professionals at all levels of experience and from all phases to look in-depth at their Teaching Knowledge and Understanding and their professional and management characteristics. Rooted in the reality of day-to-day practice, it helps them analyse, reflect on and improve these.
There are four review tools that can be used individually or together as an integrated suite comprising:
- Personal and Professional Competencies,
- Teaching Knowledge and Understanding,
- Learning Environment, and
- Management Enabler.
Easy to use, in a matter of minutes, School Mentor generates a comprehensive report complete with graphics and text that can be used to analyse and inform professional practice.
School Mentor offers the facility not only for self-review but for feedback from colleagues and pupils which enhances the scope for affirmation and challenge.
This package was actually a re-working of the Enabler product; at least it was when we started out. Over time, the reports developed a life of their own and the software evolved to accommodate this. The main advantage of the approach we took over the development is that the user interface remained the same as Enabler while the outputs were very specific to the purpose of the software; a nice compromise.
Of all the products I have written, I would have said this one deserved to make it.
