Stuff I Collect
I collect stuff from time to time. Now, I'm not a big collector and I don't get all fanatical about it, I just collect things that appeal to me at the time and that I enjoy looking at or using. I also don't spend a fortune on my collections - I do not collect antiques or expensive items.
Pocket Watches
As a little kid, I was fascinated with my great granddads pocket watch. He, in turn, wouldn't let me anywhere near it in case I broke it (miserable sod). At the grand old age of 10, I bought my own, in shiny new stainless steel.
Then I did nothing more for 30 odd years. However, I came across my old watch, would it up and found it still ran. That started me off and I now have a small collection of 21 watches. Obviously, to be a 'proper' pocket watch, they have to be mechanical - battery power should be reserved for wrist watches.
Mum has bought me a few from around the world (where they insist on using batteries - heathens). The rest I bought locally.
I just like looking at them.
Myth and Magic
I collected myth and magic figures for a while. They're basically pewter figures of wizards, dragons and supernatural things like that. They're very beautiful pieces and a real pain in the bum to keep clean!
Star Trek
I've not collected anything 'Star Trek' for a while now. Back when I was enthusiastic, I went a little mad buying merchandise including stuff from the Franklin Mint such as the badges collection, the chess set and the plate collection. Problem with collecting Start Trek stuff is that there is so much of it and you end up with no room left to display it.
